Sarah-My Best Friend!

Posted by Kristina on November 24, 2009

bff I have a lot of best friends, but Sarah is one of my best friends that I have known the longest.  I have known her since kindergarten and she is a very nice person. Sarah has brown hair and blue eyes. Sarah makes you laugh and she is always fun to be around. Sarah and I do a lot of fun things together, like bike to ALC, go to beaches in the summer and go skating in the winter. We also  have sleepovers,or go to each others houses just to hang out. Sarah is very loyal, and always tell the truth. I hope Sarah and I will be best frinds forever!!!

Fish!

Posted by Sarah H on November 24, 2009

I love fish!   But it is not my favourite animal. I know lots of different  kinds of fish, like salmon, trout, rainbow, clown fish, haddock and lots more!

What Is a Fish?

Fish are ancient water-dwelling creatures found all over the globe. They are the world’s oldest animal with a backbone. Today more than 24,000 species populate the waters of the world. Fish breathe using gills, which draw oxygen from the water and into the bloodstream.

Fish are cold-blooded aquatic animals with  gills and fins. Fish were among the first animals  hunted by humans.

There are more species of fish than all the species of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals combined.

Fish  lived long before dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Fish can swim  as soon as they’re born.

and those are some facts about fish. Now you know a little morej0430061 about fish.

H1N1

Posted by Krista on November 24, 2009

I got the H1N1 needle yesterday and I was scared. I though about the time Keenan gave me a pinch on the arm and it was really small so it hurt. I found out his pinch hurt more then the needle. Isn’t that weird,a pinch hurting more then a needle. My arm is in pain when I move my shoulder. I got it in my left shoulder, which  is good, because I don’t write with my left hand. I have to take it easy because I don’t want to pull a musle. My arm is so stiff. I like the nurse who gave me the needle. She was at the Kanata Recreation Center. She was very nice. I got a lady bug sticker from the women. I wanted to get the needle second, but I had to go first because my Mom told the lady I was the most scared. I would rather get a needle then get the flu and be sick.

November 24, 2009 – Agenda

Posted by Mr. Baird on November 24, 2009

n175517Tuesday… another day that was supposed to be sunny, but turned out to be cloudy! At least, it isn’t snowing.

A busy working day here in Portable 1! In language arts, we continued to work on our Secret Shortcut stories… tomorrow, some people will be volunteering to read what they have written so far. We also started listening to the Gordon Korman story “This Can’t Be Happening at MacDonald Hall”.

In social studies, the Grade 4’s continued working on a map showing the physical regions of Canada (Western Cordilliere, Interior Plains, Canadian Shield, St. Lawrence and Great Lakes Lowlands, and the Appalachian Mountains), while the Grade 5’s worked on labelling a diagram of the House of Commons (e.g., Speaker’s Chair).

Homework

  • Read 20-25 minutes
  • Important Notes: Parent-Teacher Interview Time Request Form and Early School Closing Form are in the front pouch of the agenda.  Please fill-out, sign and return these forms for tomorrow (Wednesday, November 25)
  • Reminder: Early Bird Yearbook Orders due tomorrow!
  • Reminder: Scholastic book order due Friday, November 27, 2009

Ballet

Posted by Zoe on November 24, 2009

I do ballet. It is really fun for me. We have to put buns in our hair, so we look like real ballarinas. This is my second year. I did an exam and there were two people. I got a good grade… the highest grade! I did a resitlie and, at the end, I got a medal. My assistant is called Megan. We call her Miss Megan. She is friends with Kristina’s sister Chiara. I am in grade one ballet… I was in kindergarden last year. I always have it on a Wednesday’s or Sunday’s.Tonight they are going to see if I could go to the exam. I hope I go! It is really fun! There is an exam person, and they grade you. There is a piano in the room because they don’t  use a radio in the exam. They ask a person to play the music, and it sounds  like the radio because he is really good at it. In my class, there are 5 or 6 or 7 people. You get  to learn a lot of dances and when you are in grade one. You charter dance and do things which you perform. Do you do  dance?

My favourite colour is black. I don’t exactly know why, but I just do like that colour.

I use it a lot to colour on paper.
